A bulk bag of 1000 Sapim Polyax spoke nipples, 12mm long and finished in black. The patented Polyax head is rounded rather than flat, which reduces the stresses produced by the axial and lateral forces that come with low spoke counts and crossings. The nipple re-aligns itself within the rim hole by up to 9 degrees radially and 6 degrees axially, so the spoke sits straighter and the fit is much better.
Sapim forge all their nipples, and the arguments for brass over their aluminium option are price and rigidity, which is why brass remains the wheelbuilder's default for everyday and hard-working builds. A bag of this size suits a workshop or a builder working through several wheelsets.
