Shimano SM-RT86 Ice Tech disc brake rotor, 180mm with 6-bolt mounting, for riders wanting cooler running, quieter braking and longer pad life.
The SM-RT86 is a 180mm disc brake rotor using Shimano's Ice Tech three layer sandwich construction, stainless steel either side of an aluminium core. That alloy centre pulls heat out of the braking surface quickly, with surface temperature drops of around 50 degrees C, and around 400 down to 300 degrees C when paired with Ice Tech pads. Less heat means less fade on long descents, quieter braking and longer pad life.
Mounting is 6-bolt, so check your hubs use the six bolt pattern rather than a centre lock fitting before ordering. The braking surface is shaped for pad clearing and cooling, and a large forged alloy spider keeps things rigid without adding weight. We have it on the shelf in Kennington for free click and collect, and our mechanics can fit and bed it in the same day if you would rather leave it to us.
