The SH56 is Shimano's multi-release SPD cleat, sold as a pair in silver. Where a single-release cleat wants one particular heel movement, the multi-release design lets your shoe disengage by rolling or twisting the foot in any direction. It will even release under sufficiently hard and considerable upward force, which reduces the risk of toppling over with both feet still clipped in.
That makes it a sensible choice if you are new to clipless pedals, ride in stop start traffic, or simply want a more forgiving exit. Note that these come without cleatnut, so keep the backing plates from your existing setup if you are replacing worn cleats. We have them on the shelf in Kennington for free click and collect, and our mechanics can set them up on your shoes the same day.
